Deni Bonet & Chris Flynn
The Bitter End147 Bleecker Street, New York 10012
Deni Bonet & Chris Flynn bring a rare full-band version of their folk-rock set to The Bitter End, with Bonet on electric violin and vocals and Flynn on guitar and vocals. Their original songs and unexpected covers are joined by Gerry Rosenthal on bass and Miles East on drums. Rosenthal opens with his trio, featuring Sean-David Cunningham on violin and Jack Breslin on upright bass.
The New York duo are known for Bonet’s virtuosic violin, Flynn’s guitar work, and close vocal harmonies, with a repertoire that also includes instrumentals, humor and onstage banter. They have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the United Nations and the White House, and shared stages with artists including R.E.M., Cyndi Lauper, Sarah McLachlan and Warren Zevon. WFUV’s John Platt praised their “charisma and musicality.”
The Bitter End has been a fixture of Greenwich Village since 1961, known as one of New York City's oldest rock clubs. It's a modest basement club with a stage and a bar, where the audience sits close to the performers. The room has exposed brick walls and a rustic feel, and the atmosphere is warm and conversational. Shows are typically ticketed with a small cover charge, and the evening combines listening to live music with casual conversation and drinks. The venue has hosted legends like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, and continues to be a place where songwriters and musicians share new material. It's a steady, reliable spot for live music in the city.
