Jon Regen LIVE at Roxy Bar

Jon Regen plays live at Roxy Bar on Sunday and Monday evenings, billed as a singer, songwriter and pianist. The downtown set pairs his music with the bar’s cocktails and oysters, with Regen performing solo rather than with a listed band or guest. Expect a pianist-led singer-songwriter performance from an artist whose work has moved from instrumental jazz into song-focused material.

Regen is a New York musician who first worked as a sideman with jazz artists including Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, after studying as a protégé of pianist Kenny Barron. He made acclaimed instrumental jazz records before turning to songwriting, and has recorded with Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes. His 2023 album Satisfied Mind features Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino; Jamie Cullum premiered its title track on BBC Radio 2, while Jazz FM named it Album of the Week. The Telegraph described it as “a young Billy Joel singing Bill Withers songs with a tumble of perfectly chilled piano notes,” adding that listeners are “witnessing virtuosos at the height of their powers.” The Associated Press praised his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand.”
