Misty Blues Band
Terra Blues149 Bleecker Street, New York 10012
Misty Blues Band brings founder and front woman Gina Coleman to Terra Blues with the group’s core band of multi-instrumentalists. The set draws on traditional blues while making room for soul, funk, Creole and Latin inflections, reflecting a band that has spent 25 years stretching its material across those currents.
Based in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Misty Blues has played original and traditional blues since 1999, with hints of jazz, soul, funk and tent-revival gospel in its sound. The group was a finalist in the 2019 International Blues Challenge and has received multiple Grammy nominations, including a Best Contemporary Blues Album nomination for Silver Lining. Their recording collaborators include Eric Gales, Charles Neville and Joe Louis Walker; they have also opened for Mike Zito, Tab Benoit, James Montgomery, John Primer, Roomful of Blues, Albert Cummings and Shemekia Copeland. Blues Matters Magazine called them “a Consummate band at the top of their game… a real treat.”
Terra Blues offers a focused setting where the music takes center attention in a compact room that invites you close to the performers. The venue features a bar but no full kitchen, so the emphasis is on drinks and the live experience rather than dining. Shows often run late into the night, with bands playing until 2 AM, creating a space for extended sets and deep musical immersion. The audience is there to listen and engage with the music, making it a place to savor performances without distraction. The venue’s walls and layout bring you near enough to catch every nuance of the sound, and the late hours mean your evening can stretch into the early morning with soulful blues and electric energy. Terra Blues remains a lively part of Manhattan’s music scene, hosting acts that carry on rich musical traditions.
