Tim Lin Quartet
The Django2 6th Avenue, New York 10013
At The Django, the Tim Lin Quartet brings saxophonist Tim Lin to a late-night set, with the rest of the quartet still to be announced. The billed format puts Lin at the front of a four-piece group, and the evening centers on his original work rather than a themed program, guest appearance, or release event. It is a chance to hear a New York-based bandleader whose recordings have found a substantial audience on both jazz charts and streaming platforms.
Lin is a Taiwanese-American saxophonist living in New York. He has released four albums: Romance in Formosa in 2022, Empathy in 2023, Birdwatching in 2024, and Heartfelt in 2025. The latter was released by Sony Music Taiwan and recorded with Dick Oatts, Rodney Green, Jeb Patton, and David Wong. His albums have accumulated more than 2.5 million plays and reach more than 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, while also receiving heavy play on U.S. jazz charts. With his quartet personnel yet to be named, this set spotlights the saxophonist's developing catalog and the collaborators who will shape it on the night.
The Django offers a subterranean jazz experience inspired by Parisian boîtes, with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame a stage equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. The venue combines two cocktail bars and an open dining area where you can enjoy an elevated menu alongside live performances every night. The evening unfolds with a focus on attentive listening, enhanced by award-winning cocktails crafted by Natasha David and a selection of small plates and dinner options. Shows require a cover charge and reservations are recommended to secure your spot. The setting invites you to settle in for a night of rich jazz sounds, fine food, and carefully mixed drinks, all within the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel, creating a distinct mood that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
