Cowboy Junkies - Celebrating 40 Years and Beyond
City Winery NYCHudson River Park Esplanade, New York 10014
Cowboy Junkies bring their Celebrating 40 Years and Beyond show to City Winery NYC's Main Stage. The Toronto quartet will draw from across its catalogue, from 1988's The Trinity Session through the recent Such Ferocious Beauty. It is a career-spanning set from a band whose original four-person lineup has remained together: Michael Timmins on guitar, Margo Timmins on vocals, Peter Timmins on drums, and Alan Anton on bass.
Formed in Toronto in 1985, Cowboy Junkies built their early reputation with The Trinity Session, a recording that combined folk, blues and rock and sold more than a million copies. Across 29 albums, the group has sustained the same core collaboration without a breakup or hiatus. AllMusic calls them “one of the most unique and enduring bands in alternative rock.” The New York Times says Margo Timmins's voice is “as melancholy and enchanting as ever,” while The Mercury News hears something “nearly miraculous” in the way her voice meets Michael Timmins's pained lyrics, calling the result “truly transformative music.”
City Winery at Pier 57 is a restaurant winery with live music on an intimate stage, offering a full evening experience that combines dinner, wine, and live music. The venue features two performance spaces: a seated 350-seat concert hall and a smaller 150-capacity loft space, with a 100-seat restaurant including a pizza bar and coffee roasting station. Guests enjoy views of the Hudson River and Pier 57, located in Chelsea on Manhattan’s west side, near Chelsea Market. The intimate setting allows audiences to experience performances up close in a seated environment, with a diverse lineup including national touring artists, singer-songwriters, jazz musicians, and comedy shows.
