A protégé of pianist Kenny Barron, Regen began as a sideman for jazz artists including Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, then released acclaimed instrumental jazz recordings before turning toward singer-songwriter work. He has recorded with Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind featured Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. Jamie Cullum premiered its title track on BBC Radio 2, and Jazz FM named it Album of the Week. The Telegraph described the record as “a tumble of perfectly chilled piano notes,” while the Associated Press called his songs, tenor and grand piano “a captivating combination.”
