Jason Graae: It’s a Graae Night for Singing!
54 Below254 W 54th St, New York 10019
Jason Graae brings It’s a Graae Night for Singing! to 54 Below as a solo evening of songs and stories, with Gerald Sternbach as musical director. Graae draws on songs from his Broadway shows and stories about his parents and the people they knew, shaping the program around the comic and personal sides of his theatrical life. The encore adds some holiday flair, making this a year-end cabaret set rather than a standard concert.
Born in Chicago, Graae is a cabaret and musical-theatre performer whose work spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, opera, television, film and recording. His stage credits include A Grand Night for Singing, Falsettos, Stardust, Forever Plaid, and Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh, and he has performed with Faith Prince in The Prince and the Showboy and with American Ballet Theatre in Twyla Tharp’s Everlast. He has also recorded 85 albums and was the voice of Lucky for Lucky Charms cereal. The Los Angeles Times called him “WIRED,” noting that he will do anything for a laugh and “USUALLY gets one”; the New York Times described him as “an irresistible cut-up whose splendid voice is matched by mischievous charisma.”
A nonprofit cabaret venue dedicated to live music, 54 Below is a listening room where audiences gather to experience legendary artists performing in a dedicated space. The atmosphere is elegant and intimate, with a focus on the music and the performers. The room is designed for seated audiences, offering close proximity to the stage, and the experience is centered around the show rather than conversation or drinking. Shows are ticketed and require advance purchase, with a nonprofit mission that supports the arts. The venue has a strong reputation for excellence in theatre, as recognized by a 2022 Tony Award nomination.
