Jon Regen LIVE at Roxy Bar
Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013
Jon Regen brings a live set to Roxy Bar, the Tribeca room where the evening pairs music with cocktails and oysters. The listing bills him simply as Jon Regen LIVE and identifies him as a singer, songwriter and pianist. Although his regular Sunday and Monday appearances are described elsewhere as solo-piano sets, the supplied listing does not confirm the formation for this date. Expect a songwriter-led performance from an artist whose work moves from his jazz grounding into his own blend of jazz and pop.
New York-born, Regen started out as a jazz sideman for Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, after studying under pianist Kenny Barron, then shifted from acclaimed instrumental recordings toward songs with vocals. He has recorded with Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind includes Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. The Associated Press praised his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand,” while The Wall Street Journal called him “a confident, soulful singer.” DownBeat wrote that his music “shoots from, and directly into, the heart,” and The Telegraph gave Satisfied Mind four stars.
Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
