Ms. Lisa Fischer featuring Orrin Evans Trio

Ms. Lisa Fischer leads a Birdland set featuring the Orrin Evans Trio, bringing her vocals into dialogue with Evans’s piano-led trio arrangements. The collaboration is presented as a meeting point for Fischer’s soulful, adaptable delivery and Evans’s inventive writing, moving through jazz, soul and music beyond fixed genre lines. The evening focuses on the musical rapport Fischer and Evans have developed in duo, trio and larger-ensemble settings: emotive songs, room for vocal exploration, and arrangements designed to answer and extend the voice.

Fischer is a Grammy and Oscar-winning vocalist whose career includes four decades of collaborations with major artists. She spent 26 years making music with the Rolling Stones, and Keith Richards has praised her singing for its “amazing power, energy, and projection.” The Birdland billing places her with a close musical partner: Fischer and Evans have also worked together with Evans’s Captain Black Big Band, where his arrangements have provided a larger canvas for her voice. Here, the trio format puts the emphasis on their shared ability to connect soulful phrasing, jazz interplay and open-ended song interpretation.
