Peter Erskine’s Dr. Um arrives at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz as a quartet: Erskine on drums with John Beasley on keyboards, Bob Sheppard on saxophone and Janek Gwizdala on electric bass. The group explores Erskine’s electric past through groove-driven fusion, bringing the classic fusion sound into the 21st century. The four musicians are also credited on the original Dr. Um album.
Dr. Um is Erskine’s project, shaped in part by his years with Weather Report and Steps Ahead.
