HOOBASTANK
HOOBASTANK, special guest Audiovent
The Roxy Theatre9009 West Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles 90069
Hoobastank heads to The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, with Audiovent billed as the special guest. It is a two-band bill: Hoobastank is the named headliner, while Audiovent joins the evening as the supporting act.
Audiovent, the special guest, is an alternative-rock four-piece from Calabasas, California: Jason Boyd on lead vocals, Benjamin Einziger on guitar, Paul Fried on bass and Jamin Wilcox on drums. The group began as Vent in Southern California’s early-2000s rock scene and is known for “The Energy,” the first single from its 2002 Atlantic debut, Dirty Sexy Knights in Paris. Audiovent’s Incubus family links include Boyd, younger brother of Brandon Boyd; Einziger, younger brother of Mike Einziger; and Fried, their stepbrother. The band toured with Bush and Adema, and recorded that album with producer Gavin Mackillop. Billboard called its energy “electric” and praised the “deep lyrics”; Melodic called it “an electrifying record filled with tense and vibrating grooves,” while AllMusic heard “a clone of Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana.”
The Roxy’s history is written into its live recordings: Neil Young played during its 1973 opening weekend, and artists including Frank Zappa and Bob Marley later captured performances here. Today it remains a working concert club on the Sunset Strip, at 9009 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Expect a compact, 500-capacity room with a built-in stage, lighting and sound, an elevated VIP area, and a bar; the event setup can vary, so check your show’s listing for its exact arrangement. The venue lists concession-style bar food rather than a full dining service. Shows are ticketed, with admission varying by event, and the busy calendar includes regular concerts. Check the listing for start time and ticket availability, then settle in for a night built around the live performance.
