Agriculture headlines a four-band bill with Dry Socket, Bosse-De-Nage and Pure Hex.
The Los Angeles quartet calls its music “ecstatic black metal,” pairing black metal’s blast beats, tremolo-picked guitars and howled vocals with a wider palette that has included pedal steel, organ, saxophone, ambient twang, free jazz, post-rock and folk. Dan Meyer and Leah Levinson share vocals, alongside guitarist Richard Chowenhill and drummer Kern Haug. Reviewers have heard “striking tenderness” amid “high-octane chaos”; The Guardian called their second album, The Spiritual Sound, “unabashedly gorgeous noise.”
El Rey’s distinction is written into its room: a 1936 Art Deco movie palace, still dressed with chandeliers and velvet, now used for live concerts. The theatre became a music venue in 1994, so a night here pairs a preserved historic interior with a working concert hall. Expect general-admission standing on the main floor unless your show’s ticket details say otherwise; some performances offer VIP table seating in the balcony. Doors typically open an hour before showtime, and support acts may be added closer to the date, so check the event listing before heading over. The venue has cashless concessions, and its FAQ points guests to a neighboring restaurant for a bite. It remains an active venue on Wilshire Boulevard in Miracle Mile.
