Aviram Reichert brings a solo piano recital to UCLA’s Lani Hall for the winter installment of the 2026/27 David L. Abell Piano Master Series. The series invites renowned pianists to UCLA not only to perform but also to work with piano students, placing this appearance within a program of visiting artists and study. Reichert is billed as the evening’s pianist; the listing does not announce a repertoire or additional performers.
A native of Israel, Reichert won the Bronze Medal at the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, following major competition wins in the Far East, France, and Germany. He has appeared as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic, Haifa Symphony, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony, Tokyo Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, Korean Symphony Orchestra, and Daegu Symphony Orchestra, among others. His recent concerto work has included Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto, Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, as well as de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain. After the latter, a reviewer called him “a big player with all the tension of a coiled spring suddenly unsprung,” adding that “he has heft and he has poetry.”
The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music offers a refined concert experience in its 135-seat Lani Hall Theater, designed with advanced acoustic treatments that ensure clear sound from every seat. The venue features a raised stage with adjustable acoustic panels, creating an environment where both performers and audience members can engage deeply with the music. Events here range from student recitals to performances by renowned artists, often free and open to the public, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. The setting encourages attentive listening rather than casual socializing, making it ideal for those who appreciate the nuances of live music. Located within UCLA's Westwood campus, the school also hosts a variety of musical series and festivals that celebrate global traditions and contemporary works, promising an enriching evening of artistry and culture.
