Rowena Wise plays a solo-billed show behind her sophomore album Bad Things Feel Good, a record about the pain of transformation and the shifting terrain of love, desire and selfhood.
Originally from Margaret River in Western Australia and now based in Naarm/Melbourne, Wise is a singer-songwriter whose work spans indie rock, garage pop and alt-folk. Her writing draws on the storytelling of 1960s folk icons, with an emphasis on emotional truth and human contradiction.
Gold-Diggers offers a distinctive blend of a bar, music venue, and dance floor, where the room holds about 175 people, creating a space that feels lively yet focused on the music. The interior features disco-ball chandeliers and a touch of seedy glamour that nods to its storied past, setting a scene that’s both raw and celebratory. The sound system is state of the art, designed to deliver showcase-quality performances that range from rock and roll to all-vinyl DJ sets and surprise shows. The crowd is drawn by an ever-changing lineup curated by music enthusiasts, making each night a chance to discover fresh talent or enjoy familiar favorites. Classic cocktails are served at the bar, encouraging mingling and dancing well into the early hours, with the venue open nightly from 7pm to 2am.
