Pariah the Doll + Special Guests
2220 Arts + Archives2220 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles 90057
Pariah the Doll, the performance name of Miles Shore, brings an evening of art song to the 2220 theater, with Yves Tumor listed on the lineup and additional special guests expected. Shore will be joined by a guest or two for hymns, possible Velvet Underground songs, and other lively numbers. The focus is a collaborative vocal program rather than a specified band formation, leaving room for the songs and guests to shape the night.
Shore is a singer from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, whose first solo record, CASTRATO, is described as “a work of alt-classical art song.” His musical work has moved between churches and concert settings: he has sung and played organ at churches in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and London, and performed bassoon and contrabassoon with the National Youth Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. His compositions have been presented at New York Fashion Week, Juilliard, and Curtis. Beyond the stage, he has modeled for Marc Jacobs, SSENSE, Enfants Riches Déprimés, Batsheva, LABUCQ, and Elena Velez; his self-directed music films have featured Ivy Wolk, Azealia Banks, and Sombr.
The 2220 Arts + Archives lounge and theater is a volunteer-run cultural center in a converted theater space, hosting experimental music, film, and literature. The room is a modest, intimate space with a stage and seating for a small audience, where the front row is close enough to feel the energy of the performers. The bar is open for 21+ events, offering drinks to accompany the music and conversation. Shows typically begin with doors opening 30-45 minutes early, and the venue operates as a programming cooperative, curating events that reflect its mission of non-commercial, adventurous arts.
