LOST LEADERS Perform Music from the Feature Film RUN with special guests Sputnik the Band & Kendall Jane Meade
The Mint6010 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles 90035
Lost Leaders bring music from the feature film RUN to The Mint, with special guests Sputnik the Band and Kendall Jane Meade. The billed program centers on the duo’s work for the film: they contributed to both its score and soundtrack, including their versions of licensed songs. It is a chance to hear that material in a live setting alongside a guest-inclusive bill.
Lost Leaders are longtime collaborators Byron Isaacs and Peter Cole, a duo whose partnership grew around the Levon Helm Band and Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York. Isaacs handles bass and vocals, while Cole plays guitar and sings. They began writing and recording at Helm’s barn and performed the Midnight Ramble with Levon Helm. Their work has links to Ollabelle, Amy Helm & the Handsome Strangers, The Lumineers and Lava Baby; for the RUN soundtrack, they worked with vocal guests including Amy Helm and Samantha Fish. Relix hears “a blend of gritty folk, rootsy pop and swirling psychedelia,” calling the sound “timeless.” Sing Out! praises the “crisp” performances and “appealing brashness,” while Elmore Magazine notes “gorgeous melodies and harmony vocals,” “intriguing lyrics,” and “compelling bass lines.”
A stage where Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Natalie Cole once broke, The Mint is a Mid-City club with a long-standing reputation for live music. The room holds about 300 standing guests with a few seats, offering a close view of the stage. The atmosphere is lively with a full bar, tapas-style food, and a dance floor. Shows run from 7 PM to 2 AM on weekends, with jazz, blues, and soul acts. The experience blends music and conversation, with early arrival recommended for the best seats. It's a place where musicians and fans gather, and the energy is strong.
