Static Dress – Injury Episode USA Tour w/ I Promised The World, Car Underwater, Sherane
The Regent Theater101 West 5th Street, Los Angeles 90013
Static Dress bring their Injury Episode USA Tour to The Regent Theater with I Promised The World, Car Underwater, and Sherane also on the bill. The Leeds four-piece will present their post-hardcore in a tour setting centered on Injury Episode, the record produced by Erik Bickerstaffe of Loathe. The bill brings together a headline set and three supporting acts for the Downtown Los Angeles date.
Static Dress are a four-piece post-hardcore band from Leeds, England, whose work joins what NME calls “brutal aggression, melody and tender emotion” to ambitious storytelling across music and multimedia. Their projects have included a comic book and soundtrack described by Kingstar as a “parallel universe,” extending the band’s lore beyond the songs themselves. They have worked with Underoath and appeared on “Nostalgia Kills.” Critics have called Injury Episode “a fearless approach to guitar music,” “brimming with personality, intention, and raw emotion,” and “a tour de force from start to finish.” Reports on their concerts characterize the shows as “theatrical and ferocious,” while Kingstar calls them “one of UK’s music’s most exciting creative forces.”
The Regent’s story as a 1914 movie house is still visible in its proscenium arch and surviving plasterwork, now framing a concert room with a sloping floor and second-floor mezzanine. Most shows are ticketed and standing-room only, though occasional seated events are marked as first come, first served; check your event listing for its format and door time, and buy ahead for popular dates, since some sell out. The room is set up for live music, with the mezzanine offering another view of the stage. Before the show, you can get wood-fired pizza and other bites at Prufrock Pizzeria inside the venue, or drinks at the attached Love Song bar. The Regent is on South Main Street in Downtown’s Bank District, a short walk from Pershing Square station.
