Fake Names bring their album-release tour to Alex’s Bar, featuring Brian Baker, Mario Rubalcaba, Dennis Lyxzén and Johnny Temple, with special guests also billed.
The punk supergroup connects members of Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Bad Religion, Refused, Rocket from the Crypt and Girls Against Boys. Their music has been characterized as punk shaped by power-pop melodies and harmonies, with one review calling the debut “a catchy album with a clear focus on melody and songcraft.”
Alex’s Bar pairs its punk-rock identity with a striking, blood-red interior and velvet paintings of Elvis and Mexican wrestlers; it also appeared as Fangtasia in True Blood. The room is a Long Beach bar and live-music venue, with the stage set into a corner and a spacious floor for shows. Expect amplified bands alongside the bar’s regular social life, rather than a concert room focused solely on quiet listening. The venue’s FAQ describes its commitment to an inclusive, accessible environment, and its site lists food pop-ups on a calendar, so food availability depends on the event. Show details and ticket arrangements can vary; check the listing for the performance you have found. Alex’s Bar is still operating at its longstanding East Anaheim Street address in Long Beach.
