KCRW Presents: Moon Panda

Moroccan Lounge901 East 1st Street, Los Angeles 90012

KCRW Presents brings Moon Panda to Moroccan Lounge in Downtown Los Angeles. The bill names Moon Panda alone, with no supporting performers or special set details announced. Expect the California and Danish act’s “dreamy space pop,” built around synth-and-guitar-led songs such as “Rabbit,” “Gun” and “Slow Drive,” alongside the dense drums, lush harmonies and drifting soundscapes described in the band’s own bio.

Moon Panda began as a four-piece led by California-born vocalist and bassist Maddy Myers and Danish guitarist Gustav Moltke, with UK musicians George Godwin and Alfie Webber; more recent coverage names Godwin and drummer Josh Cabitac alongside Myers and Moltke. After self-releasing the debut EP Pastel Pool, the group signed with Fierce Panda and worked with producer Adam Thein on releases including Sing Spaceship, Sing! and Dumb Luck. They have toured with The Japanese House, Slow Club and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. Lauren Laverne called “Slow Drive” her “favourite track of the year so far… top of the pile for me,” while reviews have described the debut as “a concise, understated delight” and “measured, sophisticated, thoughtful.”

The Moroccan Lounge offers a live music experience defined by its carefully designed space and exceptional sound quality. With a capacity of up to 250, the venue features a 20-foot stage and a dance floor that invites both standing and seated guests, though seating is limited and without tables. The room is dark and focused, with advanced acoustics ensuring every note and lyric is clear from anywhere in the hall. A lengthy bar and a café-style food window provide refreshments, while a separate lounge area offers a place to relax and mingle. Shows here often spotlight emerging and experimental artists, creating an attentive audience environment. The venue operates until 2 am, making for a full evening of music in a setting that balances energy and listening pleasure.
