The Musical Box...and Then There Was Phil

The Canyon - Agoura Hills

The Musical Box brings ...And Then There Was Phil to The Canyon for a theatrical reconstruction of Phil Collins-era Genesis, drawing on the band’s progressive-rock repertoire from 1976 to 1980. The production recreates the 1978 Mirrors tour staging, with period costumes and mirrored lighting, rather than presenting a standard covers set. Expect early hit “Follow You Follow Me” alongside material from A Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering, ...And Then There Were Three..., and Duke, plus a few unannounced surprises. Individual performers are not listed for this show.

The Musical Box are from Canada and are known for carefully researched, theatrical recreations of Genesis in concert, using vintage instruments and equipment in their productions. Phil Collins described their work as more than a tribute band: “They have taken a period and are faithfully reproducing it in the same way that someone would do a theatrical production.” Steve Hackett has performed live with the group, Peter Gabriel has attended their shows, and Collins joined them onstage in Geneva in 2005. What’s On called the show “a terrific nostalgia trip,” citing “over two hours of impressively faithful readings” of Genesis music; At The Barrier found it “a genuinely authentic show,” highlighting its visuals and attention to detail.

The Canyon’s appeal is its dinner-and-concert format: you can make a full evening of a show, with table seating paired with dinner service or general-admission access to the concert floor. The calendar ranges from touring performers and tribute acts to themed nights, often with opening acts before the headliner. Expect a ticketed event, and check the listing for your show’s seating and dining arrangements; some events specify a two-drink minimum. Doors commonly open early enough to arrive before the music, though timings vary by event. The venue is at 28912 Roadside Drive in Agoura Hills, in the Conejo Valley, and current official listings continue to advertise shows there. It’s a practical choice if you want dinner and live music under one roof.
