Andy & Renee & Hard Rain New Year’s Party
Grand Annex434 West 6th Street, Los Angeles 90731
Andy Hill and Renee Safier bring Hard Rain to the Grand Annex for a New Year’s Eve party built around folk-rock classics and favorites from across the decades. The South Bay group plays as a duo with its band, drawing on an Americana folk-rock approach for a set of memorable songs rather than a one-artist tribute. The evening also includes late-night appetizers, party favors and a toast to welcome 2027.
Hill and Safier are South Bay folk-rockers who perform more than 200 shows each year with Hard Rain. The Grand Annex describes their music as “thoughtful, musical, danceable and full of memorable hooks,” while others have called the band “America’s best kept secret.” Andy & Renee have released 17 CDs and three DVDs, won Americana Group of the Year from the LA Music Awards and Best Duo/Group at the International Acoustic Music Awards, and received a Regional Emmy for their PBS concert special Black Box Opens; Andy & Renee. They also organize Dylanfest, a day-long Bob Dylan celebration now in its 33rd year, featuring more than 70 Los Angeles musicians.
The Grand Annex offers a 150-seat cabaret-style setting where every seat feels close enough to catch the nuances of world-class acoustic performances. The room’s design emphasizes sound clarity, making it ideal for genres like folk, jazz, blues, and Americana. Tables are arranged with four seats each, and a well-stocked beer and wine bar complements the music, inviting attentive listening rather than casual chatter. Shows are ticketed and often run on weekend evenings, with occasional open mic nights fostering local talent. The venue’s connection to the historic Warner Grand Theatre and its role in community arts education add depth to its cultural presence. Expect an evening where the music takes center focus in a thoughtfully curated space that feels like a private gathering with exceptional artists.
