In Fuzz we Trust Presents Kristeen Young at the Redwood Bar November 13th

The Redwood Bar & Grill316 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles 90012

Kristeen Young headlines an early show in the Redwood Bar's 20th Anniversary Show Series, with The Roommates and LOCO also on the bill. A live bio has presented KRISTEENYOUNG as a trio, with Young on keys and vocals, Sylvia Black on bass and “Baby Jef” White on drums.

Missouri-born and now based in New York, Young makes no-genre music built from dissonant piano, operatic vocals and serrated lyrics. She has toured as Morrissey’s opening act, recorded the David Bowie duet “Saviour,” worked with producer Tony Visconti, and featured Dave Grohl on drums and guitar on The Knife Shift. Record Collector praised her “stunning banshee voice” and called her performance “exquisite, scintillating and singular.”

The Redwood’s pirate-ship interior gives its live-music nights a distinctive setting: ship’s wheels hang overhead, masts and nautical paintings line the room, and the stage sits at the back of a dark, wood-heavy bar. This Downtown Los Angeles tavern pairs shows with a working grill, so you can have pub food and a drink before the band; its menu includes burgers and fish and chips. Live bands are a regular draw, with rock and punk among the styles reported, and the evening is as much a bar night as a music outing. Expect a small performance area and a crowd gathered close to it, rather than a formal concert setup. Recent event listings show shows scheduled at the venue, though door charges and times vary by event, so check the listing for your night.
