Dave Harrington, Jay Bellerose and Billy Mohler begin their first Monday-night residency at Club Tee Gee with two sets. The Los Angeles improvising trio pairs Harrington on guitar and electronics with Bellerose on drums and percussion and Mohler on bass.
Their 2025 live album, First Set Live at eta, documents fully improvised music shaped by what Big Ears calls the tension between an acoustic rhythm section and Harrington’s “borderless electric guitar.” Harrington is half of DARKSIDE and has worked with Alanis Morissette and Cassandra Jenkins; Mohler has played with Lee “Scratch” Perry and Dolly Parton, while Bellerose has been a first-call drummer for Joe Henry and T Bone Burnett.
Club Tee Gee’s appeal is the collision of a long-running Atwater Village bar and a live-music calendar that keeps its old-school room in use. Green banquettes, wood-panelled walls and a glittered ceiling with a spinning disco ball give the performance space a distinct look; the bar’s history in the neighbourhood reaches back to 1946. Expect a night that can move from a live set into dancing, with DJs and other events also on the programme. Drinks are part of the picture, and a covered patio offers a place to step outside; food pop-ups are occasional, not a dependable meal plan.
