The James Hunter Six - Off the Fence Tour
The Peppermint Club8713 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles 90048
The James Hunter Six bring the Off the Fence Tour to The Peppermint Club. British singer, songwriter and guitarist James Hunter leads the six-piece, whose Off the Fence lineup includes Myles Weeks, Rudy Albin Petschauer, Andrew Kingslow, Michael Buckley and Drew Vanderwinckel. Expect a full-band rhythm and soul set built around Hunter’s vocals and guitar, with double bass, drums, keyboards and percussion, plus baritone and tenor saxophones.
Hunter comes from Essex, England, and his band has been described by Daptone Records as a soul-blues group making “timeless rhythm & soul.” Known for his gritty voice and sharp songwriting, he has sustained a long career across soul and R&B, including work with longtime collaborator Van Morrison, who duets with him on “Ain’t That A Trip.” Hunter has also shared stages with Mavis Staples, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Etta James and Bonnie Raitt. MOJO called him “The United Kingdom’s Greatest Soul Singer”; fRoots heard “a first-rate soul/R&B band,” “a blasting horn section” and “a great singer up front.”
The Peppermint Club offers a sleek, modern setting where the focus is firmly on the music and the performers. The room features a well-designed layout with a bar serving a curated menu of drinks, creating a space where the audience can enjoy the show while socializing comfortably. Seating is available but limited, encouraging a mix of standing and sitting that keeps the energy dynamic without overwhelming conversation. Shows are ticketed, so securing your spot ahead is wise, and the venue often hosts multiple sets or late-night performances, making for a full evening of entertainment. The club’s polished yet approachable vibe makes it a distinctive spot for discovering new sounds or enjoying established acts in West Hollywood’s lively scene.
