Who’s Live Today?

Miko Marks

Troubadour9081 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles 90069

Miko Marks heads to the Troubadour for a billed performance under her own name. No accompanying performers or special format are listed, so the night is presented simply as a chance to hear the singer and songwriter whose work moves among Americana, blues, southern rock and gospel. Her current story includes the 2024 deluxe edition of Feel Like Going Home, originally released in 2022, a record the venue describes as rooted in healing and restoration.

Born in Flint, Michigan, Marks first released the country albums Freeway Bound in 2005 and It Feels Good in 2007, after studying political science at Grambling State University. She later returned to recording after a hiatus of more than a decade, making Our Country with bandmates Justin Phipps and Steve Wyreman, then following it with the covers EP Race Records. Her work has brought her to stages opening for Tedeschi Trucks Band, Little Feat, the Blind Boys of Alabama and the War and Treaty, as well as tours in the United States and Canada. Rolling Stone called her voice a “marvelous instrument that imbues each song with a kind of hard-won authority.”

The Troubadour’s claim to fame is written into pop history: Elton John made his American debut here in 1970, and the musicians who became the Eagles met around the club. It remains an active West Hollywood live-music venue, with current concerts listed at its Santa Monica Boulevard address. Expect a ticketed show in a compact club room, with a bar and a small kitchen serving burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, and fries. Seating depends on the event; where it is limited, the venue says it is generally first come, first served, so check your show’s details before arriving. Doors typically open an hour before the performance, and most shows finish between 11 p.m. and midnight, though timing varies. The venue sits near Doheny Drive, on a stretch of West Hollywood with nearby bars and restaurants.
