Death Angel

17201720 E. 16th Street, Los Angeles 90021

Death Angel bring their five-piece Bay Area thrash metal lineup to 1720 in Downtown Los Angeles. Mark Osegueda handles vocals, with Rob Cavestany and Ted Aguilar on guitars, Damien Sisson on bass and Will Carroll on drums. This is a full Death Angel set from a band described as Bay Area thrash-metal pioneers, in a room whose former-factory layout, high ceilings, exposed steel and concrete suit a loud, standing-room show.

Formed in the San Francisco Bay Area, Death Angel’s story reaches back to the 1980s, with a reunion in 2001 and landmark releases including The Ultra-Violence and Act III. Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett produced the band’s Kill as One demo. Their later album Humanicide continued their work with producer Jason Suecof and mastering engineer Ted Jensen, and arrived via Nuclear Blast. Soliloquium calls Death Angel “an absolute machine live,” pointing to their precision, energy and audience engagement; SonicAbuse called Humanicide “one of the most thrillingly exciting metal albums of 2019 to date.”

1720’s calling card is its range: the former garment factory hosts both all-ages punk, hardcore and metal shows and separately promoted late-night electronic events. Inside, high ceilings, exposed steel and concrete give the room a warehouse feel, while concert-grade sound and lighting make the stage the focus. Most shows are standing-room, with a bar and an outdoor patio; some events also bring pop-up food vendors, so check the listing rather than counting on a meal. The calendar is ticketed, and age rules and start times vary by event. You’ll find it in Downtown LA’s industrial warehouse district, where street parking is limited; the venue recommends rideshare. Its current listings include upcoming October and November 2026 shows at 1720 E 16th Street, confirming it is still operating at that address.
