Handel’s Messiah is presented at Walt Disney Concert Hall by Le Concert d’Astrée, with Emmanuelle Haïm, Amanda Forsythe, Carlo Vistoli, Lunga Eric Hallam and Ashley Riches. The performance also brings together the Le Concert d’Astrée Choir and the Los Angeles Master Chorale, making the choral forces a defining part of the evening. This is a large-scale presentation built around Handel’s work, with the billed soloists and two named choirs alongside Le Concert d’Astrée.
Le Concert d’Astrée is the billed ensemble at the heart of this program, joined here by its own choir and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Haïm, Forsythe, Vistoli, Hallam and Riches complete the announced roster. The concert takes place in Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, whose auditorium is designed for clear sound throughout its more than two thousand seats. Warm wood paneling surrounds listeners, and the stage is positioned close to the audience, keeping the focus on the performers and Handel’s score.
Designed by Frank Gehry, this concert hall is a striking architectural landmark with sweeping stainless steel curves that catch the light outside, while inside, its acoustics are meticulously crafted to deliver rich, clear sound to every seat. The auditorium seats over two thousand people in a space where the audience is fully immersed in the music, surrounded by warm wood paneling and a stage that brings performers close to listeners. The venue hosts ticketed performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and other ensembles, offering an evening focused on attentive listening rather than casual socializing. Nearby bars and restaurants in Downtown Los Angeles provide options for pre- or post-show dining, but inside, the experience centers on the music in a refined, elegant setting.
