Alex’s Bar and No Vacancy present Another Sunday Shakes, the Dr. Strange Matinee Winter Bash. The bill brings together The Briefs, Clit 45, The Skulls, The Drowns and K/Crush for an afternoon of amplified bands at the Long Beach bar. The Drowns appear as a three-piece, with Rev Peters on guitar and vocals, Andy Wylie on bass and vocals, and Jake Margolis on drums. This is a 21+ event.
The Drowns are Seattle punk rock ’n’ rollers whose lineup is Rev, Andy and Jake. Their debut, View From The Bottom, was described by Gunner Records as “energetic, passion fueled punk rock,” drawing on “the best anthemic punk bands of the mid to late 90s.” On their newest album, Harsh Reality, they worked with Bill Stevenson at the helm and Jason Livermore mixing; Zach Blair added guitar to “Vengeance.” The band’s own site calls the record “The Drowns at the top of their game,” and describes them as a fan favorite in the global punk scene.
Alex’s Bar pairs its punk-rock identity with a striking, blood-red interior and velvet paintings of Elvis and Mexican wrestlers; it also appeared as Fangtasia in True Blood. The room is a Long Beach bar and live-music venue, with the stage set into a corner and a spacious floor for shows. Expect amplified bands alongside the bar’s regular social life, rather than a concert room focused solely on quiet listening. The venue’s FAQ describes its commitment to an inclusive, accessible environment, and its site lists food pop-ups on a calendar, so food availability depends on the event. Show details and ticket arrangements can vary; check the listing for the performance you have found. Alex’s Bar is still operating at its longstanding East Anaheim Street address in Long Beach.
