The Ron King Big Band with special guest Paul Brown

Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill JazzNorth Beverly Glen Boulevard, Los Angeles 13359

The Ron King Big Band brings its original big-band charts to Vibrato Grill Jazz, with Paul Brown joining as special guest on guitar and vocals. The program puts Brown, described by the venue as a two-time Grammy artist, in front of King’s large-ensemble writing rather than presenting a standard small-group set.

Led by Los Angeles trumpeter, composer and arranger Ron King, the 17-piece band draws on his own compositions as well as arrangements by Billy Byers and Don Costa. King is described on his site as “one of L.A.’s top studio lead and jazz trumpet players,” and has performed and recorded with the big bands of Bill Holman, Clayton-Hamilton and Don Menza. His wider studio career includes work with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Queen Latifah, Jeff Lorber and George Benson, across film, television and commercial soundtracks. Brown has also produced and appeared on King’s smooth-jazz album Cascade, and is among the artists King has performed and recorded with. A review of King’s Triumph called the music “simply fun jazz that plays right.”

Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz offers a refined evening where live jazz unfolds in a spacious room with comfortable seating arranged to bring the audience close to the stage, allowing clear sound from every corner. The venue combines a full-service restaurant and bar, so you can enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal or cocktails while the music plays. Shows are ticketed and often feature multiple sets, encouraging guests to settle in for a full night of entertainment. The room’s walls are adorned with tasteful art, complementing the upscale yet relaxed vibe. The focus here is on attentive listening, making it a place to savor both the music and the company. Located in Bel Air, it provides a serene setting away from the city's bustle, perfect for a memorable night out.
