Who’s Live Today?

Fruition

Troubadour9081 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles 90069

Fruition brings its five-piece band to the Troubadour for one of the final dates of its farewell tour, with Rainbow Girls also on the bill. The Portland group is touring behind its eighth studio album, Something More, produced by Tucker Martine and released via Bloodshot Records. After more than 15 years on the road, the band plans to step away from touring when these dates conclude. Expect the collaborative, song-led approach that has made Fruition’s live sets: three singers and songwriters, Jay Cobb Anderson, Kellen Asebroek and Mimi Naja, backed by bassist Jeff Leonard and drummer Tyler Thompson.

Fruition began busking on Portland street corners as a string band and grew into a roots-minded outfit whose music reaches through folk, rock, bluegrass, soul and country. Their three-part harmonies remain a calling card, alongside writing shaped by three distinct voices and a full rhythm section. They have opened for the Wood Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass and Jack Johnson, and their recent work with Martine reflects the band’s wider electric and indie-influenced range. Americana Highways heard “sweet sorrow,” lighter fun and harmonies in their 2024 album, praising the group’s three lead singers, three songwriters and “instinctive talent.” Another review found Fruition “not something that’s easily sorted,” an apt description for a band that has kept stretching its roots-music foundation.

The Troubadour’s claim to fame is written into pop history: Elton John made his American debut here in 1970, and the musicians who became the Eagles met around the club. It remains an active West Hollywood live-music venue, with current concerts listed at its Santa Monica Boulevard address. Expect a ticketed show in a compact club room, with a bar and a small kitchen serving burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, and fries. Seating depends on the event; where it is limited, the venue says it is generally first come, first served, so check your show’s details before arriving. Doors typically open an hour before the performance, and most shows finish between 11 p.m. and midnight, though timing varies. The venue sits near Doheny Drive, on a stretch of West Hollywood with nearby bars and restaurants.
