Luke Carlsen and the Fresh Rhythm Band bring their big-band set to Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz. Carlsen leads the group as its vocalist, with the Fresh Rhythm project built around new arrangements of swing-era material including “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing.” Expect a night centered on classic swing and big-band repertoire rather than a stripped-down solo appearance.

Born and raised in South Dakota, Carlsen spent years performing in Los Angeles clubs before forming the Fresh Rhythm Big Band with music director Michael Seaman in 2017. He is known for smooth vocals, vintage flair and a commanding stage presence, and UPI has called him a “Rising Star in the Jazz Scene.” Alongside his work with the band, his talent profile credits performances for Disney and the Perry Mason soundtrack, as well as an appearance in the first episode of HBO’s Perry Mason. Producer Claytoven Richardson has also worked with Carlsen and the band on three songs recorded at United Recording with engineer Steve Genewick.

Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz offers a refined evening where live jazz unfolds in a spacious room with comfortable seating arranged to bring the audience close to the stage, allowing clear sound from every corner. The venue combines a full-service restaurant and bar, so you can enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal or cocktails while the music plays. Shows are ticketed and often feature multiple sets, encouraging guests to settle in for a full night of entertainment. The room’s walls are adorned with tasteful art, complementing the upscale yet relaxed vibe. The focus here is on attentive listening, making it a place to savor both the music and the company. Located in Bel Air, it provides a serene setting away from the city's bustle, perfect for a memorable night out.
