Parachute

Troubadour9081 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles 90069

Parachute comes to the Troubadour for one of four shows marking the 15th anniversary of The Way It Was. The Charlottesville-bred band will perform songs from that sophomore album alongside their other biggest hits, with the anniversary also bringing the record's first vinyl release. Katelyn Tarver is listed on the bill for the night.

Formed while Will Anderson, Johnny Stubblefield, and Kit French were still in high school, Parachute began by writing together in Anderson's basement before building a local following around the University of Virginia. Their music draws on classic pop, heartfelt rock and blue-eyed soul, with open-hearted songwriting and melodies that carry subjects including love, loss, hope and regret. Their 2009 debut Losing Sleep reached No. 2 on Billboard's Digital Albums chart and No. 40 on the Billboard 200, while Overnight reached No. 3 on iTunes. Parachute's platinum-selling, chart-topping “She Is Love” remains a signature hit. Across the years, they have toured with Kelly Clarkson, Gavin DeGraw and Mat Kearney, and completed three sold-out headlining tours.

The Troubadour’s claim to fame is written into pop history: Elton John made his American debut here in 1970, and the musicians who became the Eagles met around the club. It remains an active West Hollywood live-music venue, with current concerts listed at its Santa Monica Boulevard address. Expect a ticketed show in a compact club room, with a bar and a small kitchen serving burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, and fries. Seating depends on the event; where it is limited, the venue says it is generally first come, first served, so check your show’s details before arriving. Doors typically open an hour before the performance, and most shows finish between 11 p.m. and midnight, though timing varies. The venue sits near Doheny Drive, on a stretch of West Hollywood with nearby bars and restaurants.
