Kind of Now

Gregory Hutchinson’s Kind of Now is a jazz ensemble led by the acclaimed drummer, revisiting the rhythmic force of the drummers behind Miles Davis’ groundbreaking bands. Its music treats that legacy as a starting point for infectious grooves, daring improvisation and a forward-looking take on Miles’ adventurous spirit.

For this performance, Hutchinson is joined by Marquis Hill on trumpet, Ron Blake on tenor saxophone, Gerald Clayton on piano and Robert Hurst on bass. The group pays tribute to the players who helped change the course of modern jazz while bringing the music into the present tense.
